Final Package - Music Video,Digipack,Magazine Advert

Embedded below is the Finalised Music Video for 'Crazy Kids'. Ishpreet Sundal and Chloe Connell did majority of the editing. We all directed and also played a part in the filming process, however it was mainly Chloe's role. Ishpreet and Chloe edited majority of the filming as I took responsibility over the Digipack and Magazine Advert creation.

Here is the final digipack and magazine advert which i uploaded onto 'Imgur'

Finalized Chosen Magazine Adver
After reviewing the magazine advert with my group, we found that the final advert I created could be developed with the use of better resources as I was limited. With the new Photoshop software on IMacs in our sixth form, Chloe and Ishpreet used ideas I originally used (My Conventions of Itunes,RCA Logo, Website Link and Typography) Also using the picture I took when doing photography for ancillary texts.

The image I took was used as we decided she looks 'Happy' which is a theme within the music video. Similarly, Ishpreet and Chloe used the same colour pink edit and the same typography. However, the changed the typography colour from yellow to blue, as blue appeared better against the pink background.

Chloe and Ishpreet have also  changed the typography and font colour for 'Crazy Kids'.
They  made the 'C' larger than the rest of the letters, to make it stand out more to the audience as it shows the purpose of the advert which is to promote 'Crazy Kids'. The colour of it is the same blue, as the blue used on the 'Crazy Kids' on the red cup which is seen on the digipak cover created by me which they took and applied onto the advert like i did to the previous advert.

The drop shadow of 'Crazy Kids' is black, which makes it stand out as well as resembling grafffiti and shadows of lighting (e.g. in parties). This connotes 'fun', 'reckless', 'crazy' which are Kesha's star motif in her media products (e.g. Music videos,Digipacks and Adverts).

Here is the finalised magazine advert:

Final Magazine Advert

After researching Kesha's Magazine Adverts, I found that she uses a specific unique font as typography on her magazine advert and digipacks, therefore I downloaded it and used it on my final products. In this Magazine I used typical magazine advert conventions such as simple info (Artist name, Single/Album Name,Record Label name, Itunes Logo, Website Address). I edited the image to fit the digipack and music video as they all relate, I changed it from my initial plan of her looking to the side as I found that it is more conventional for the artist to be looking directly straight. I also included a picture which connotes a 'Sexy' Pose which is a star motif in Kesha's magazine adverts it attracts the male gaze also connotes the song lyrics.

Magazine Advert Images not used

These are Magazine Adverts I created but did not use as I felt like they were not conventional or engaging enough:

Process of creating the Digipack and Digipack Magazine advert

For the digipack I had to take pictures using a professional Nixon camera to achieve good quality. I also experimented with coloured lights to achieve a unique funky image. I took quite a few images with different lighting and poses which connoted poses which were used in the music video also the poses are seen used by our chosen artist Kesha.
I also used a screen recorder to record how i edited images for the digipack,  I uploaded this on Youtube.

Digipack and Magazine promotional Advert Sketches

I drew rough sketches for the designs of the digipak and promotional advert to help give me a rough idea of what I wanted the final piece to look like. I also was able to include conventions of  digipack and magazine advert to my own sketches and design.

I drew the sketches on paper and then uploaded on a word document and gave a brief outline of my ideas which I then uploaded onto 'SlideShare'

Digipack Magazine Advert research

Digipack Magazine advert is very important as it plays a important role in promoting the album or single digipack. Typical conventions include large image of the artist, name of album or single and where it is available.

Here is my Digi pack advert I chose to analyse was 'Jessie J: Who you are' Album advert

Digipack Magazine Advert research from ahmer007007

My group member Chloe Connell also analysed digipack magazine advert 'Rihanna: Loud' Album Advert

  • The digipack consists of vibrant colours in order to attract attention
  • The album title is called 'Loud', this is juxtaposed by the use of visual images as she appears to have her fingers over her lips signifying to 'shh'
  • An image of her album cover so that the audience know which album she is referring to and advertising
  • The use of typography to connote 'OUT NOW' so that the audience know when they can access the digipack
  • Close up of her face is used similarly on the album cover connoting her in a sexual desire reinforcing Laura Mulvey's male gaze
  • Similar use of vibrant colour of red is dennoted through he magazine advertisement and album cover.

Digipack Research

Digipacks are packaging which includes a CD of an artist's single or album, it is also a alternative physical copy of music to downloads on ITunes etc. Digipacks are particularly important as the appearance of them has to appeal to the artist's target audience to increase sales.  Digipacks are usually a 6-8 panel layout which may include a lyric book, posters. Digipacks always include artist information, record label information and track listing as they are basic conventions for a digipack. The appearance of a Digipack varies from artists to genres etc as many artists include their motifs to appeal to their fan base.

In class, we look at examples of Digipacks and identified typical conventions which would later help when creating our individual digipacks for our music video/artist.

I researched 'Kooks: Inside in Inside Out' Album digipack to identity typical conventions. Here is my research:

My group member Chloe Connell researched into Katy Perry's album digipack for 'Teenage Dream'-here is her research:

'' My first Digipak I have chosen to research is the Katy Perry 'teenage dream' album, it follows the typical conventions of a Digipak such as having six panels in order to connote pictures of the artist using different shots such as a close up and extreme long shot. The use of bright pink colours help relate to Katy Perry's personality and is one of her artist conventions to use a lot of girly colours which also helps appeal to her target audience of being majorly females. The digipack also consists of a track list which usually appears on most digipacks to inform the distributers and audience what is featured on the CD so they know what they are buying. The CD also features Katy laying on clouds which represents one of her well known songs 'Teenage Dream' which most of her audience would be aware of. The digipack also denotes a parental advisory label as her audience may be quite young it informs those that the CD has no use of profanities and is suitable for a younger audience. Katy also appears to be laying in a sexual way, this shows that it would fit Laura Mulvey's male gaze which would also suit her male target audience.'' - chloeconnellmediablog.blogspot.co.uk
